Central Utd 1st’s 4-3 Beer Albion 2nd’s

On a very wet day, Beer 2nd’s headed to Central hoping to make amends for the 4-0 Slee Cup defeat three weeks ago. The Fishermen started well and looked dangerous every time they attacked, with James Hill threatening down the left hand side. They were soon rewarded with the first goal when a Reece Hales corner was turned home by Ashley Driver. Soon after Beer went 2-0 ahead after good attacking play ended with a Chris Long lay-off to Smith who slotted home.

Unfortunately from that point, Beer seemed to lose their shape and concentration in a 15-minute spell which saw them concede 3 goals and therefore go in at the break 3-2 down. The second half started well with the Fishermen pushing for an equaliser but again, some sloppy defending saw them go 4-2 down. Beer continued to press to get back into the game and scored towards the end when Ryan King’s cross-come-shot found its way into the net but it proved too little, too late. Nevertheless, this was a good performance by the Fishermen against high-riding opponents. Midfielder Reece Hales was awarded man of the match.
